11 Jahre: „We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions“ – feiert Geburtstag

Am 25. April 2006 wurde das Bruce Springsteen Studioalbum „We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions“ erstveröffentlicht.

Anno 1997 spielte Bruce Springsteen den Protestsong „We Shall Overcome“ für ein Pete Seeger Tribute Album ein. 2005 und 2006 traf er sich mit den damaligen Studiomusikern wieder, um weitere Folksongs aufzunehmen. Aus diesem Material entstand „We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions“.

This is a LIVE recording, everything cut in three one-day sessions (’97, ’05, ’06) with no rehearsals. All arrangements were conducted as we played, you can hear me shouting out the names and instruments of the players as we roll. This approach takes the listener along for the whole ride, as you hear the music not just being played but being made. So, turn it up, put on your dancin’ and singin’ shoes, and have fun. We did. We Shall Overcome: American Land Edition

Zum Jahresende wurde ausserdem „We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions – American Land Edition“ released. Auf dieser Veröffentlichung findet man einen 40minütigen Behind-the-Scenes Films, inkl. Material mit Bruce und der Seeger Sessions Band bei den Aufnahmen zu „Jacob’s Ladder“, „Froggie Went A Courtin“ sowie „Erie Canal“.

Die „Bruce Springsteen with The Seeger Sessions Band Tour“ startete am 20. April 2006 und umfasste 62 Shows in Nordamerika und Europa. Unter anderem trat Bruce Springsteen auch dreimal in Deutschland auf:
