The Soul Of Asbury Park Comes To The Paramount Theatre
Heute Abend (12. November 2011) findet im „Paramount Theatre“, Asbury Park, NJ ein ganz besonderes Konzertereignis statt. Unter dem Motto „The Soul of Asbury Park“ werden diverse Musiker wie Nicky Addeo, Billy Brown, Bobby Thomas und Lenny Welch auftreten, um feinste Soul Music zu zelebrieren.
Am 2. April 2011 gab sich Nicky Addeo bereits die Ehre und spielte ein Konzert in der „Wonder Bar“ (wir berichteten hier). Damals kamen Southside Johnny, Ex E-Street-Band-Drummer Vini „Mad Dog“ Lopez und Bruce Springsteen auf die Bühne.
Ob der „Boss“ am Abend persönlich am Auftritt teilnehmen wird, ist nicht bekannt.

THE SOUL OF ASBURY PARK COMES TO THE PARAMOUNT THEATRE
A once-in-a-lifetime concert, featuring Asbury Park’s well-known West Side musicians, will be held at the famous Paramount Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The concert, called “The Soul of Asbury Park,” will feature Ray, Goodman and Brown, with Asbury Park native Billy Brown. Bobby Thomas, also from Asbury Park, will appear in a special tribute to the original Orioles. A reunion of Asbury Park’s original The Broadways is slated, along with an appearance by Nicky Addeo and The Nite Owl Band. Other special guests are also expected to perform.
“Trust me, if you love Asbury Park and love this great music- then you will not want to miss this concert,” Asbury Park Historical Society President Don Stine said.
And the city’s West Side music scene has not gone unnoticed by Bruce Springsteen and Southside Johnny Lyon, who both agree to being strongly influenced by this music. On April 2, both Springsteen and Lyon took part in a panel discussion that included Bobby Thomas and Nicky Addeo, moderated by author Daniel Wolff.
Springsteen and Lyon, neither formally trained in music, spent countless hours listening to the many hits recorded by these West Side musicians, later incorporating some of those sounds into their own music.
Later that night, a sold-out concert was held at Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar featuring Billy Brown, Robert Coleman, Bobby Thomas, Nicky Addeo and others, who will also be featured at the Nov. 12 concert.
