In the last 10 years, with and without the now-dwindling E Street Band, Springsteen has created some of his best music. No album as a whole approaches Born to Run’s cultural status, but select songs are equally memorable and musically vital.
I hate to be the voice of dissent—especially when it comes to one of my personal heroes—but this year’s Wrecking Ball is far from Bruce Springsteen’s best album. The excitement built around his stark, Occupy-driven album was lost upon listening through Bruce’s repetitive lyrics and reissued compilations (Hello! We’ve already heard “Wrecking Ball”, “Land of Hope and Dreams”, and the bonus track “American Land”). Yes, it’s musically diverse and should produce some arena-rocking power when heard live, but these lyrics can’t be written by the same man whose first few albums were as poetically beautiful as anything ever put to music.

Bruce Springsteens Musikkollege Tom Morello hat am 9. September 2011 ein neues Album mit dem Titel „World Wide Rebel Songs“ veröffentlicht. Der einstige Rage Against The Machine und Audioslave Gitarrist präsentiert neben einigen Rockperlen („Black Spartacus Heart Attack Machine“ und „It Begins Tonight“) vor allem ruhige Folkballaden, die auch aus Bob Dylans oder Johnny Cashs Feder stammen könnten.

Seit 2003 ist der Künstler als „Nightwatchman“ unterwegs und stand auch mit Bruce Springsteens E Street Band auf der Bühne.
Am 8. April 2008 performte er gemeinsam mit Springsteen den Song „Ghost of Tom Joad“. Das Lied wurde wenig später auf der EP „Magic Tour Highlights“ veröffentlicht.

2011 solo album from the Rage Against The Machine guitarist. This self-produced effort is a change of pace from the usual acoustic offerings of past Nightwatchman albums, with the record featuring a full electric backing band called The Freedom Fighter Orchestra. In describing the record, Morello states, “Troubled times call out for troubled songs. World Wide Rebel Songs is an album of rousing hopelessness and this time The Nightwatchman has brought along his electric guitar to tip the scales. I wanted to capture a vibe midway between Johnny Cash and Che Guevara, murder ballads and Molotov anthems.

Der langjährige E Street Band Gitarrist Little Steven van Zandt war heute Morgen in der „WMGK – Philadelphia Classic Rock“ Radioshow zu Gast, um eine Kunstausstellung in Ardmore, PA zu promoten. Der Musiker plauderte mit Moderator John DeBella über Bruce Springsteens nächstes Projekt und verriet, dass der ‚Boss“ derzeit an einem Solo-Album – ohne E Street Band – arbeitet.

Little Steven im Interview mit John DeBella:

„You know Bruce, he’s always got an album in his pocket, he’s always writing something.
I don’t know this for a fact, but I expect him to possibly put something out that’s more of a solo nature, before we get back together. Only because he’s so prolific, still, after all these years … I expect him starting to have a backlog of songs, just in terms of the time that have passed.“

In der vergangenen Woche wurde bekannt, dass E Street Band Saxophonist Clarence Clemons auf dem neuen Lady Gaga Album „Born this Way“ mitwirken wird (wir berichteten hier und hier).
Der „Big Man“ führte nun ein Interview mit dem „Rolling Stone Magazin“. Unter anderem sprach er über die „Working on a Dream Tour 2009“ und die Zukunft der E Street Band.

„That last tour was hell,“ Clemons tells Rolling Stone. „Pure hell.“ In the previous few years before the tour Clemons had his knees and hips replaced, but he was still in a lot of pain – and the constant travel didn’t make it easier. „The tour was wonderful musically,“ he says. „But I knew when it was done that I had to have more surgery.“
