Die „Darkness On The Edge Of Town Tour“ führte Bruce Springsteen und die E Street Band im Herbst und Winter 1978 nicht nur für einige Gigs in den Süd-Westen der USA, sondern auch nach Kalifornien. Am 15. und 16. Dezember 1978 gastierten Bruce Springsteen, Roy Bittan, Clarence Clemons, Danny Federici, Garry Tallent, Steven Van Zandt und Max Weinberg für zwei Abende im vollbesetzten “Winterland Ballroom” in San Francisco, CA.

Das erste Konzert am 15. Dezember 1978 wurde Live im Radio ausgestrahlt und zählt zu den besten Springsteen Shows aller Zeiten. Der “Boss” begeisterte die 5.400 Zuschauer mit vielen Songs aus seinem aktuellen Longplayer sowie etlichen Coversongs. Übrigens landete die Komposition “Fire” vom 16. Dezember 1978 auf der “Live 1978 – 1985” LP-Box.

Bruce loosens up and reshapes the previous night’s broadcast set, opening in high spirits via “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” giving a tour debut to the infectious “Rendezvous,” summoning a deeply affecting “Independence Day” and absolutely crushing the top of the second set with “(It’s Hard To Be A) Saint In The City. Columbia Records veröffentlichte im November 2018 die Bruce Springsteen Live Sammlung “Songs from the Road”. Im Januar 2019 sowie im März 2019 wurden mit “Songs of Friendship” und „Songs of Hope“ zwei weitere Live-Sammlungen nachgereicht.

Im Rahmen der „The Ghost of Tom Joad Tour“ spielte Bruce Springsteen im November 1996 drei Gigs im „Paramount Theatre“ in Asbury Park, NJ. Am ersten Abend präsentierte der „Boss“ mit „Independence Day“, „Wild Billy’s Circus Story“, „Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)“ und „4th Of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)“ gleich vier Tourpremieren. Ferner begrüsste er auf der Bühne Patti Scialfa, Soozie Tyrell und Danny Federici.

Im Rahmen der weltumspannenden „Reunion Tour“ standen Ende Oktober 1999 vier ausverkaufte Shows im „Staples Center“ in Los Angeles, CA auf dem Tourplan. Am letzten Abend – 23. Oktober 1999 – spielte die E Street Band ein umjubeltes Konzert in der knapp 20.000 Zuschauer fassenden Multifunktionsarena an der South Figueroa Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Unter anderem stimmte Bruce Springsteen als Tourpremiere den ursprünglich für „Darkness On the Edge of Town“ komponierten Song „The Promise“ an.

Nach drei umjubelten Shows im „Palladium“ in New York City spielte Bruce Springsteen im Rahmen der „Darkness On The Edge Of Town Tour“ auch drei Gigs im 3.200 Zuschauer fassenden „Capitol Theatre“ in der 20 Meilen westlich von Manhattan liegenden Gemeinde Passaic, NJ. Das erste Konzert am 19. September 1978 wurde Live im Radio übertragen und zählt zu den herausragensten Auftritten der E Street Band.
