Bruce Springsteen wurde für den britischen „UNCUT MUSIC AWARD 2008“ vorgeschlagen.
Ob Springsteen den Preis wirklich gewinnen wird, entscheidet sich in der zweiten Novemberwoche.

Uncut magazine is proud to announce the launch of the Uncut Music Award, to find the most inspiring and richly rewarding album of the last 12 months.

Chosen from a longlist of 25 albums (see the full list below) released between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008, a ten-strong industry panel including Peter Hook and Edwyn Collins will choose the winner by ranking their five favourites from the year.

Other industry luminaries on the Uncut Music Award panel are: BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris, producer of Later With Jools Holland Alison Howe, radio presenter and former NME editor Danny Kelly, legendary promoter Vince Power, broadcaster and writer Mark Radcliffe, British folk artist Linda Thompson and chairman of the British Phonographic Industry and former EMI chairman Tony Wadsworth.

Naturally, chairing the judges, will be legendary Uncut editor Allan Jones.

Once the panel’s votes have been combined, a short list of eight albums will be generated. The panellists will then pick the very best to take the inaugural Uncut Music Award. The winner will be announced in early November.

Editor Allan Jones says: “We are extremely excited about the launch of the Uncut Music Award and the panel of judges we are assembling, whose votes will decide the eventual winner. With so much brilliant music released over the last year to chose from, argue over and champion, I predict only that the judging process will be combative, to say the least.”

Kassel, 23. September 2008 – Bruce Springsteen, 16-facher Grammy-Gewinner, Oscar-Preisträger, Rocklegende und Identifikationsfigur der amerikanischen Gesellschaft, wird 59 Jahre alt. RADIO BOB! widmet dem Sänger deshalb zahlreiche Programmpunkte und bindet „The Boss“ Springsteen in viele musikalische Elemente mit ein.
Das große „Warm-Up“ für den 60. Ehrentag im nächsten Jahr beginnt ein Jahr vorher, am 23.09.2008, um fünf Uhr morgens: Morgenmoderator Oliver Peral spielt in „BOBs wunderbarer Morgen“ bis um 10.00 Uhr jede Stunde einen Titel des Amerikaners, außerdem vergibt BOB! in dieser Zeit DVDs von Bruce Springsteen.
Auch am Vor- und Nachmittag laufen Springsteen-Songs, bis dann um 15.15 Uhr in der Rubrik „Mini-Konzert“ drei Live-Titel nonstop gespielt werden. „Es ist doch selbstverständlich, dass wir in unseren festen Rubriken auch den Rock-Jubilaren die Ehre erweisen. Das Minikonzert ist deshalb natürlich ein Springsteen-Konzert“, so BOB!-Mittagsmoderator Daniel Ebert. Von 21.00 bis 22.00 Uhr läuft „Bruce Springsteen live in concert“ auf RADIO BOB!, danach rundet Musikexperte Lutz Stollberg mit der Spezialsendung „BOB’s geile Scheibe“ den Geburtstag ab: Thema der Musiksendung ist Springsteens erfolgreichste LP „Born in the USA“ (21.00-22.00 Uhr).

Der 68jährige Sänger Tom Jones veröffentlicht demnächst ein neues Studioalbum namens „24 Hours“.
Unter anderem covert der britische Sänger auf seiner neuen CD den Bruce Springsteen Song „The Hitter“. Bono und U2 Gitarrist The Edge wirkten ausserdem beim Titel „Sugar Daddy“ mit.

„24 Hours“ erscheint am 21. Oktober 2008 in den USA. Der Europarelease ist für den 17. November 2008 geplant.

Am Freitag Abend feierte der Darren Aronofsky Film „The Wrestler“ auf der „Biennale di Venezia“ seine Weltpremiere und wurde prompt mit dem Goldenen Löwen als bester Film ausgezeichnet. Bruce Springsteen hat zu diesem Film den Titelsong beigesteuert (mehr Infos hier)

„The song, over the closing credits is an acoustic track. It starts with a count — ‚one, two three…‘ — and Bruce’s foot beating the ground. He plays the guitar, but you get the piano at the same time. Many times he sings „have you seen me,“ connecting with the character of Robinson who feels like a nobody outside the ring. Clearly, many aspects of this character seem they come from Bruceland.

Aronofsky: Bruce is a huge fan of Mickey’s. He’s seen every movie of his and, like a lot of people, he was hoping for him to get back on track, go back to making movies. So he was following him, he wanted to know about his projects and so on. Bruce heard about the movie so he called [Mickey] and asked him how he was doing. Mickey gave him the script; Bruce read it and said he loved it. Nothing more. The song came out next. He wrote it while he was on tour in Europe. One day he called me — Mickey gave him my number — complimented me on the movie and added that he wrote a song for the character. The song came while we were almost done editing. The first time I met him with Mickey, I was just shaking — I knew why they call him „The Boss“! He really is.

Rourke: „I’ve known Bruce for a long time now, since the 80’s, I think. I hear from him a lot, he supports everything I do, especially now I’m on the road to recovery. Sometimes he calls me to [find out] about my projects, what I’m working on and things like that… I called him when one of his friends [Danny Federici] passed away, he had played with him for 40 years, they were like brothers. I called him as soon as I knew, to see how he was doing. I was a little embarassed and didn’t know what to say… but even in such a situation he was great. He was trying to make it through. Then I heard from him this summer when he said he had this song for me. Anyway, Bruce is a great person, one of the best I ever met, and I feel honored to be his friend.

Aronofsky: Me and Mickey are really honored to have one of his songs in our movie. We are deeply moved.
