Bruce Springsteens neunundfünfzigster Auftritt am New Yorker Broadway.

Bruce Springsteens Ehefrau Patti Scialfa blieb wegen einer Grippe dem Auftritt fern. Bruce Springsteen stimmte anstatt “Tougher Than the Rest” und “Brilliant Disguise” die Songs “The Ghost of Tom Joad” sowie “Long Time Comin’” an.

Bruce Springsteen performte während der knapp dreistündigen Shows viele Songs aus seinem „Darkness on the Edge of Town“ Album, den Elvis Presley Klassiker „Good Rockin‘ Tonight“ sowie das Weihnachtslied „Santa Claus Is Coming To Town“.

„Good Rockin‘ Tonight“ wurde 1947 vom amerikanischen Bluessänger Roy Brown komponiert und eingespielt. 7 Jahre später nahm Elvis Presley den Song auf und machte ihn im Süden der Vereinigten Staaten zu einem Hit. Bruce Springsteen verwendete das Lied auf seiner „Darkness Tour 1978“ gewöhnlich als Eröffnungsnummer.

Neben Hank Williams „Wedding Bells“, Led Zeppelins „Whole Lotta Love“, Elvis Presleys „Don’t Be Cruel“, Johnny Cashs „Hey, Porter“ stimmte die E Street Band auch etliche Neukompositionen wie „Go Away (Come Closer)“ sowie eine frühe Version von „The Ties That Bind“ an.
