Die „Born in the USA Tour“ führte Bruce Springsteen und die E Street Band im April 1985 nicht nur nach Australien, sondern auch für 8 Konzerte nach Japan.

Die erste Show fand heute vor 33 Jahren – am 10. April 1985 – in der „Yoyogi“ Mehrzweckhalle in Tokio statt. Bruce Springsteen performte vor knapp 6.000 frenetisch feiernden Fans sämtliche Hits seines Erfolgsalbums „Born in the USA“.

Die Zeitung „Pacific Stars and Stripes“ schrieb am 21. April 1985 folgendes:
„Last week, for five shows at the Yoyogi Olympic Pool in Tokyo, Japanese fans got their first taste of Springsteen in person and witnessed the energy that makes his concerts the most exciting around. Even his critics who don’t go in for his unpolished voice admit he’s an electrifying performer, and it’s no secret why. He sings and talks to his fans as though they grew up together in Asbury Park.“
Bis zum 23. April 1985 spielte die E Street Band weitere sieben Gigs in Tokio, Kyoto und Osaka. Danach gönnte sich die Band bis zum Juni 1985 eine kleine Auszeit, um danach in den grössten Stadien in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten aufzutreten.
