Gestern Abend war es endlich soweit.
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band spielten eine Warm-Up Show im altehrwürdigen „Apollo Theater“ in New York City. Die Show wurde vom Satelliten Radioprogramm „Sirius“ im Internet live übertragen und Bruce Springsteen bekam glänzende Kritiken.

He jumped atop Roy Bittan’s piano. He charged through the crowd with his five-piece horn section. He sang soul from the mezzanine while his E Street Band blared away onstage. He even shimmied, monkey-like, from a balcony to the floor below.

In addition to the new material, Springsteen performed some old favorites, including „Thunder Road,“ „The Promised Land“ and „Badlands.“
The show, attended by SiriusXM subscribers and VIPs, marked the E Street Band’s first appearance at the Apollo and was the first by Springsteen since the March 6 release of „Wrecking Ball.“

The Apollo show was the first public concert by the E Street Band without saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who died last June. Clemons has been replaced by a five-piece horn section, which includes Ed Manion and Jake Clemons, Clarence’s nephew, on sax and was being broadcast live on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio channel. The show also raised funds for WhyHunger, a New York City anti-poverty group founded by Bill Ayres and the late musician Harry Chapin.
